Understanding British values and Citizenship

MTC  visited Snaresbrook Crown Court

Snaresbrook Crown Court is a historic, Grade II listed building situated in Snaresbrook, an area within the London Borough of Redbridge. It is one of 12 Crown Courts serving Greater London and is designated as a third-tier court. It is set within 18 acres of grounds and has its own lake, known as Eagle Pond. It operates 20 court rooms and manages 7,000 cases a year, making it the busiest Crown Court in the United Kingdom.

As part of their Education courses at MTC Learning, students study Citizenship which includes learning about the British Legal system and their role in that system. The courtroom experience brings the law to life through hands-on, authentic and unforgettable learning experiences.

Students were given an opportunity to meet the staff, meet the judge and visit the court rooms and received a talk and presentation outlining the work of the Crown Court and how both the Magistrates Courts and Crown Courts operate.  Students were then able to visit the court viewing area to watch two different cases in progress.
