Not being able to speak English is one of the biggest barriers to integration for refugees and asylum seekers. We offer a variety of classes, from beginners English right through to high level courses for those wanting to get into work. It’s also a lot of fun and a chance to bond as a community of learners!
At the Meeting Place we promote English use outside of the classroom
The Meeting Place program has been designed to actively encourage learners to use English outside of the classroom, by offering a blend of learning opportunities. One-to-one mentoring and activities, including visits to museums and galleries, art and craft sessions, community walks, celebrating festivals, singing in the church, visiting the homeless, joining the library all of which complement informal English courses delivered by volunteers, and provide additional, authentic opportunities for learners to speak English outside of the classroom.
